What is your most distinct characteristic? My tenacity. I never give up. Ever. That’s sometimes a positive thing but not always. What quality do you most value in your friends? Love. You can feel when someone truly loves you because all of their words and actions reflect that truth even if at times you have disagreements. . What is your Achilles' Heel? Vulnerability. I could never “kick a man when he’s down”. I’m a sucker for sob stories. What would be your last meal on earth? It would have to be Cold Stone ice cream. What is your idea of happiness? Being at peace. Peace in my home, in my relationships, with my career and my decisions. What is your idea of misery? A complete separation from God. Sometimes we may feel away from God but he’s right there with us. What I mean is completely denying God and being cut off from fellowship with Him. Can you share a joke with us? “Knock, knock?” “Who’s there?” “‘Who”’ “Who, Who?” “Oh no! We have an owl in the house!” (Corny I know. It’s not original if that helps) In what country would you like to live? I’m still young and so right now I would just love to live in Manhattan! I’d like a brownstone in the East 70s to be exact! Who is your favorite fictional character? Sylar from ‘Heroes’. He’s so bad! Who is your favorite musician? Jesus Adrian Romero. Hands down. His music truly brings joy to my life. I love it! What is your ethnic heritage? Puerto Rican from New York. Don’t water me down or hyphenate me. I’m Puerto Rican but I’m also a New Yorker. I’m proud to be a child of The Puerto Rican Diaspora. It’s that dual culture that makes us who we are; a richly diverse people. Who is your favorite artist? I have none in particular but the makeup artist in me really enjoys portraits and beautiful eyes. I enjoy art that focuses on the face. Who are your heroes in real life? Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son. And of course my father. He’s the bravest, strongest, kindest, wisest most amazing person I know. What historical figure do you admire? I have a particular fondness for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I believe God used him in an incredible way. The power of his speeches becomes apparent just by reading them! How do you spend Saturday nights? Anything fun! I can see a play or a movie or spend time with friends and family. What historical figure do you most despise? Adolf Hitler. That’s pure hate. I can’t even conceive of that kind of hate. What natural gift would you most like to possess? I’ve always dreamt of being a dancer. They make it look so easy! How would you like to die? Walking in the knowledge of Christ. Knowing that I fulfilled my life’s purpose. What is your present state of mind? Strengthened What is your motto? “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you” In other words God is more than able to provide for our hearts desires, we need only seek Him. What does being Latino mean to you? It’s everything! It’s life, vivacity, passion, “Lucha”, it means defying odds, it means fighting for your rights but it also means warmth, love and community. As a Puerto Rican I know the luxuries of liberty, peace and sustenance we can now take for granted were not easily achieved. I know and appreciate that my people have struggled for centuries in order that this generation could surpass the previous one and make our dreams a tangible reality.
