Evelyn Reyes: "My inspiration comes from within, from my surroundings and from the people in my world. Happiness within and happiness around you fosters inspiration." As a member of the Boston Latino Tv team, Evelyn is proud to share her "latinidad" with her viewers and hopes to inspire people with her zest for life. This first generation American-born Dominican grew up in a home that effortless blended the Thanksgiving turkey with 'platano majao'. Evelyn is the prime example of a networker and her calendar is always full. In addition, Evelyn is the Coordinator for the Boston Network of Las Comadres, a nationally known Latina organization that connects and empowers Latinas all over the world. Evelyn loves to laugh and considers laughter the best medicine. She also loves to dance. She has taken lessons in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Flamenco, Swing, Tango, Cha Cha and Rumba, but her heart belongs to merengue and salsa both of which she dances well! What is your most distinct characteristic? I have a very sharp and quick sense of humor, I can find the humor in ANYTHING! What quality do you most value in your friends? Loyalty What is your Achilles' Heel? How appropriate a question…….the answer is shoes! I must have them. I love them! What would be your last meal on earth? OMG…I love food, so that is hard! It would be Mofongo and Chicharron from Merengue Restaurant in Boston, Garlic Shrimp from Tapeo, a morir soñando milk shake made by my brother and Arroz con Leche made by my mom! What is your idea of happiness? Happiness is having peace, tranquility and love in your heart, mind and soul What is your idea of misery? Being in the company of people who suck all the energy out of the room in a negative way. Whiners and complainers…stay away from me! Can you share a joke with us? I would but I don’t remember punch lines. LOL In what country would you like to live? Italy and Dominican Republic Who is your favorite fictional character? Samantha from Sex and the city! Who is your favorite musician? Gonzalo Grau of La Clave Secreta What is your ethnic heritage? Dominicana hasta la tambora!! Who is your favorite artist? So many right now it’s Estelle, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Julieta Venegas, Shakira, Kanye West, Luis Miguel. Who are your heroes in real life? My mom What historical figure do you admire? Barack Obama What do you most dislike? People that incessantly talk about themselves..except me right now of course…cuz you asked me to talk about myself..LOL! What historical figure do you most despise? Hitler and all the other ones like him. What natural gift would you most like to possess? I would love to sing...do re mi fa so la ti do! How would you like to die? Quickly and painlessly and wearing a good pair of heels! What is your present state of mind? Reflective, happy What is your motto? Take action where you want action! What does being Latino mean to you? Latino to me means pride in my culture and all the things that represent that culture from the food, to the music, the traditions, the language....being a Latina is fun!
