Home Movies: Why Nobody Cares

Not too long ago I was forced to watch someone's wedding video.  It was terrible, the ceremony was extra long and. of course, we didn't watch the video in silence. The people who made me watch the video, and who had gone to the wedding, kept giving me the "now wait til...," and "this was so much fun!"

In this day and age, we tweet, facebook and at one point, even used My Space because we are obsessed with letting people know what we're doing. We hurry home or to our mobile device to see what the latest celebrity just tweeted or if your best friend saw the picture you just tagged her in.  We are constantly connected to other peoples lives, we know when people eat, sleep and some times too much more than we'd ever need to know.  But for some reason nobody wants to watch anybody else's home videos.  We just don't care, and we hate that you're making us sit through them when we just came over to your house to visit with you, not with your vacation, your kid's 3rd grade recital or the surprise party they gave you at the office, in mind.

Remember: the only reason we want to see your videos is if something tragically funny happens. We love it when the bride falls into the wedding cake; your kid punches someone in the face by mistake; you fall off a stage or you're doing a very drunk "Total Eclipe of the Heart" at Karaoke.
